How it works

From artwork to a cut-ready file in three steps.

The whole loop runs in the browser. Trace once, then adjust the cutline in real time. Every drag re-offsets instantly, no round-trips to a server. No waiting.

01 / UPLOAD

Drop in your art

PNG, JPG, or SVG. Halo traces the edge of your design automatically and builds a clean outline to work from.

02 / TUNE

Dial the cut live

Set the offset and bleed, round sharp corners so backing doesn't tear, or swap to a circle, square, oval, or rounded shape. It all updates as you drag.

03 / EXPORT

Send it to cut

Export a real CutContour spot-color PDF or SVG that your RIP software reads instantly, or grab a free watermark-free PNG for mockups.

Features

Everything the desktop suite does for cut lines with none of the back and forth.

Live re-offset

Drag the offset and the cut path redraws in real time. No waiting, no re-tracing, no exporting just to see the result.

Corner rounding that saves backing

A true minimum-radius fillet on the cut line stops sharp points from tearing the backing paper on your cutter.

Real spot-color output

Not a hidden layer or a swatch trick. A genuine PDF Separation named CutContour that routes straight to the blade.

Free PNG, always

Watermark-free PNGs for listings and mockups cost nothing and never sit behind the paywall.

Private by default

Tracing, live preview, and color sampling all run in your browser — nothing is uploaded to build the preview. Paid vector exports are generated on our server and never stored.

Nothing to install

Runs in any modern browser — Chrome, Edge, Brave, and Safari. Open a tab and you're cutting.

See it in action

Watch the whole loop in about a minute.

  1. 01
    Load a sticker design.

Drag any artwork onto the stage and the outline traces itself.

  2. 02
    Set offset & bleed.

Slide the cut a hair off the art and add print bleed so no white edge shows.

  3. 03
    Round the corners.

Soften sharp points so the cutter doesn't lift the backing.

  4. 04
    Export cut-ready.

Download the CutContour PDF and drop it into your RIP software. Done.

FAQ

Questions makers ask before signing up.

Will the cut file work with my machine?+

Halo exports a real PDF Separation spot color named exactly CutContour, which is what Roland VersaWorks reads to route a path to the blade. If your RIP recognizes a CutContour or named spot layer, it will pick up Halo's cut path. SVG export is also available for other cutting workflows.

Which browsers are supported?+

Any modern browser such as Chrome, Edge, Brave, and Safari all work. There's nothing to install and no extension to add; the whole studio runs on the page.

Is my artwork uploaded or stored anywhere?+

The trace, live preview, and color sampling all run directly in your browser — your art isn't uploaded to build the preview. When you export a cut-ready PDF or SVG, the file is generated on our server, sent straight back to you, and never stored. See our Privacy Policy for details.

What's free versus paid?+

The entire studio is free to use: tracing, live tuning, every cut shape, and watermark-free PNG export. Cut ($9.99/mo) unlocks the vector exports — the CutContour PDF and SVG that go to your cutter. Studio ($14.99/mo) adds the background remover, so you can start from any artwork instead of only transparent PNGs. Studio Annual ($99/yr) is everything, for a year, at well under either monthly rate.

Do I need the background remover?+

Only if your artwork still has a backdrop. If you already export transparent PNGs — from Procreate, Canva, Illustrator or most AI generators — the tracer reads that transparency directly and Cut is all you need. If you're working from JPEGs, screenshots, scans, or anything with a white box behind it, the background remover in Studio is what gets you a clean cut line instead of one that wanders into the background.

Can I switch plans later?+

Yes. Upgrade, downgrade or move to the annual pass anytime from the Polar customer portal — your access key stays the same, and the studio picks up the new plan the next time you open it.

How do I cancel?+

Cancel anytime through the Polar customer portal. Canceling stops your next renewal; you keep access through the period you've already paid for. There's no long-term contract.

Do I need to know design software?+

No. If you can drag a file onto a page and move a slider, you can build a clean cut line. Halo does the tracing and the math; you just tune it to taste.

About

Built by a sticker shop, for sticker makers.

Halo comes from Sticker My Life, a small print shop in Mesa, Arizona. We spent years wrestling with desktop software just to create the cut lines for our own stickers. Getting a clean contour line meant bouncing between heavy desktop software just to trace an outline, nudge an offset, and hope the corners didn't tear the backing.

So we built the tool we always wanted: something that traces your art, lets you tune the cut the second you drag, and hands you a file that goes straight to the machine. No suite to buy, no plugin to wrestle with, no jumping between programs, nothing to install.

We use Halo on our own production runs every day.
